According to the Middle Eastern news site Albawaba, Lebanese-American model Rima Fakih, who is believed to be the first Muslim woman to win the honor of Miss USA when she was crowned in 2010, gave her life to Christ a month ahead of her wedding.

Fakih, who is a former Miss Michigan and also once trained to be a WWE women’s wrestler, was born into a Shiite Muslim sect.

Fakih has said in interviews that her family was nominally Muslim growing up and that she attended Catholic schools. However, she says she started to take her Muslim faith more seriously in college.

She’s also not the first in her family to convert. “My brother-in-law is Christian,” she told the Huffington Post in 2010, “and he (and my sister) baptised their two sons. I have an uncle who converted to Christianity, and he’s a priest now.”

On March 30, Fakih tweeted a picture of herself from the night in 2010 when she won the Miss USA pageant. Her tweet also included a quote from Philippians.

“Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me,” Fakih wrote.

“Only God can turn a mess into a message, a test into a testimony, a trial into a triumph, a victim into a victory,” the message states.

A large majority of Muslim social media users were infuriated by Rima’s decision to follow Jesus, and assured her that this will “send her straight to Hell.” However, at least a lesser percentage of Muslims were respectful of the starlet’s decision to convert, wishing her luck in whatever she decides to do.

Although Fakih comes from a Shiite Muslim family, she told the Huffington Post in a 2010 interview that religion really doesn’t “define” her or her family.

“We’re more of a spiritual family. Religion really doesn’t define me or my family,” Fakih explained. “My family’s been very liberal, and we appreciate all different kinds of religions.”

Fakih is also no stranger to Christian traditions and beliefs, as she and her family often celebrate Christian holidays.

“We’d go to church on Easter. We always had a Christmas tree and every year we go the Radio City Christmas Show, and watch ‘The Miracle on 34th Street,'” she said. “But we celebrate some of the Islamic holidays as well. When I went to the University of Michigan, because there’s more of a Muslim community, my dad wanted me to learn more about Islam. I didn’t know much about Ramadan and other holidays, and my dad wanted me to take that opportunity and learn.”

She added in the 2010 interview that although her family identifies as Muslim, there are members of her family who are openly Christian.

“I consider myself to be blessed. I have a family that is a mix of different religions and different ethnicities. My brother-in-law is Christian, and he (and my sister) baptized their two sons. I have an uncle who converted to Christianity, and he’s a priest now,” she said. “My family is Muslim. But none of this ever came up in our family. We don’t look at religion as something that defines us, we look at religion as something that we respect, and something that teaches us about ethics.”

  1. Quran command. Do not divide into sects. Period. All those divided into several sects like Sunni, Shia, Dev Bandi, Barailvee. Wahabi, Ahle Hadees. Ahmadi, etc are disobeying Quran and Quran has thrown such people out of Islam fold. They are all non-Muslims.

  2. In the beginning there was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God! And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. John 1:1 and John 1:14 His name shall be Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Immanuel, Those are the names of Jesus prophesied by Isaiah many years before Jesus came to earth! Immanuel means God is with us! If you have seen Jesus You have seen God! He is God in a man! God came to earth in form of a man called Jesus! Jesus means Saviour! A man without sin, came to save a sinner! When you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that He died for your sins and you believe that on the third day He rose from death you will be saved! Romans 10:9-10

  3. being a member of the body of Christ is a very good decision, but but being available to work for Christ is the best decision any human can take

  4. If she truly converted to Christianity. as a born again Christian she cannot also be an ambassador for Islam .. something does not ad up here.

  5. Muslims do not go to church on Easter, as her family does. There are many small religious groups in the Middle East who have elements of both Christianity and Islam, but are separate religions: Alawi, Druze, Yazdis, etc. Since these groups were minorities and feared persecution, their religion allowed them to pose as the majority group. In Lebanon, the majority group is Muslim. In the US, the majority group is Christian.

  6. She got converted in 2016, that was 6 years after she won Miss USA in 2010. So, it took her those years to finally give her life to Christ; that is very good; so, it cay be seen and understood, that what influence her wasn’t the opportunity of been a Miss USA, but, her discovery of Who, Jesus Christ is, the Way, the Truth and the Life. And that nobody can come unto the Father, God Almighty, except through His Begotten Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Therefore, to encourage her, and for her to see what the name of the living Jesus can do, as those who believe Him, Jesus Christ, according to John 14: 12 – 14. And I quote: Verse 12. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. Verse 13. “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Verse 14. “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” End of quote. So to see this saying of Jesus Christ practically, please, watch Emmanuel TV on the internet, or on YouTube EMMANUELTV. You will see that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and forevermore. He is a living Being, Soul and Deity; that is why in His name; signs and wonders, including almost unbelievable miracles; are still happening till today.

  7. First of all take a look at how she is dressed is there anything Islam like there… Just because a person have Muslim name does not mean that person is a true Muslim. A true Muslim knows that stuff like modelling, fashion parades and their likes are haram(prohibited) in islam.
