In a third “honor killing” in less than a month, a 22-year-old woman bled to death after her father hit her with an iron bar, leading to widespread demand for justice in Iran where a father killing his child is not considered a murder.

The victim, identified as Rayhaneh Ameri from Kerman province, was killed by her father last Sunday night because she had returned home late, according to Radio Farda.

The following morning, Reyhaneh’s mother and sister found her garments soaked in blood, and police found traces of blood leading to her father’s car. After being caught, the father confessed to killing his daughter.

The father, who reportedly regrets having murdered daughter, put her body in the trunk of his car and disposed of her body in a nearby village.

“[B]ased on a forensic report, Rayhaneh was alive two hours before police discovered what had happened but had died of profuse bleeding,” Radio Farda added.

Great Revival Sweeping Through Iran As Hundreds Of Thousands Come To Jesus Christ

Honor killings are prevalent in some hardline Muslim societies, as well as in some Asian countries, where relatives kill family members who they believe have disgraced the family in some way. Iran’s law doesn’t treat a father who kills his child as a murderer, nor does it make him liable for the death penalty.

In May, a 14-year-old Iranian girl, Romina Ashrafi, was beheaded by her father in Gilan province after she ran away with an older man who had groomed her.

Ashrafi was brutally dismembered with a sickle, a tool with a curved blade that is generally used to harvest crops. Following the crime, the girl’s father confessed to the crime “with the sickle in his hand” outside of the house.

Citing local media, the BBC reports that Ashrafi ran away from her home in Iran’s Gilan province with the 34-year-old man, Bahamn Khavari, after her father objected to their marriage. The couple was found by police five days later. Although Romina reportedly warned police that her life would be in danger if she returned home, they escorted her back to her family.

Also in May, an 18-year-old girl was killed when her brother set fire to the house she was in, in retaliation for her marrying an older man, according to The Jerusalem Post.

  1. I am stunned, to read this violenced messengers!..how cruel to be killed by a disgreaced action of a man, who is happening to be called their own father…the law in Iran must be changed, thats why this terrible thing still happens over there, because the men are allowed to do so, to be their own judge over their own family and their own seed…but at the other hand…when daughters know such thing, why still provocing the father?..and the place of the elder men who seduce the beautifull daughters is also not free from guilt!!..they in their older age are provocing fathers alot, who probably are of their same age!!..but my father in Holland, did do the same cruel thing to me, not killed me, for its not able then he was in prison afterwards,…. but he twice interfered and withheld me to marry my love…some men, I mean to say, cannot share their daughter with other men…the first time my dad won and I delayed the marriadgeday, at age of 28!…lateron I had learned from that experience and when another sweet man came along I married him, allthough my dad still didnot agree to it, lateron after alot of prayers to God and Jesus, he was changed, but when I needed him in that marriadg, he NECLECTED me never helped me out, as he used to do when I was still a young girl. at hte eldery home..it was his pride, that I had not LISTENED to him..that he payed me back by never once helped me when I needed him with the man and that stayed untill he died..and on his deathbed he told me how he thought about the 2 men who had loved me, he found it a laughing issue, these 2 men! This he said for he was felt passed by , by me doing my own life as I wanted it, while he still disagreed…to come back on Iran Fathers..,I see a same attitude towards daughters there as my dad also showed me…I
