Written By Charles Wesley

Head of the church triumphant,
We bring our adoration;
Till you appear,
Your servants here
Shall sing with great elation:
We lift our hearts and voices,
With blest anticipation,
And cry aloud
To you our God
The praise of our salvation.

While in affliction’s furnace,
And passing though the fire,
Our hands we raise,
Your love we praise,
Which lifts us ever higher:
We clap and shout, exulting
In your almighty favour:
The love divine
Will on us shine
And keep us yours forever.

By faith we see the glory
To which you shall restore us,
The world despise
For that high prize
Which you have set before us:
Because you count us worthy,
We each, like dying Stephen,
Shall see you stand
At God’s right hand
To call us up to heaven.
