The United States Vice President Mike Pence has spoken at the World Summit in Defense of Persecuted Christians in Washington, D.C., reiterating the government’s commitment to people of faith and the destruction of terror across the world.

“The persecution of Christians has long disturbed the American government,” Pence declared at the event, which has seen speeches from Franklin Graham and various other Christian leaders, along with delegates from 136 different nations.

Pence continued, asserting that “America will stand by followers of Christ” and “bring relief and comfort to believers across the world.” The VP also addressed the issue of terrorism, and in particular ISIS, who have been slaughtering Christians across the Middle East.

“Terrorists will not stop until we stop them. Under Trump, we will stop them,” he boldly proclaimed.

“We not only have a leader who calls our enemy by name, but who will confront them. We will not rest, we will not relent until we hunt down and destroy ISIS at its source,” he said.

“ISIS is on the run because of Trump’s actions,” asserted Pence.

Pence also asked for the Chruch to pray for those who are in the fight against terror. “Persevere in prayer for those who are in the uniform and who are in this fight,” he said.

Trump will protect faith with all his might, the Vice President declared.

“The president’s commitment of protecting people of faith will not end with the defeat of ISIS. We will stand against persecution with our ideals and with all our mind.”

Pence also discussed the President’s relentless commitment to freedom of religion. “President Trump will continue to stand without apology to protect this freedom,” he said, adding that it is a “priority of the Trump administration.”

“All God’s children can know with confidence that God will continue to guide this nation to play our unique role on behalf of freedom for all.”

Then, the Vice President talked about how his wife had given him a framed verse when he was first elected back in the 80’s. “My wife presented me with a framed verse. It hung over the mantle in every office I have served in, and now sits in the home of the Vice President of the United States,” said Pence.

For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11

“True words when they were first spoken by the prophet. Every bit as true today,” said Pence.

Then, he gave some heartfelt advice on how the Church can deal with persecution, speaking with the strength of God’s hope for an eternal future.

“Fellow believers in Christ, cling to one another in these challenging times. Know that America stands with you and will labor alongside you. Be confident, because in the midst of it all, He knows the plans He has for us,” Pence declared with faith.

“We have a bright eternal future.”

“Even in times of persecution, this Church has prospered, it has grown, it has had hope in the future,” Pence said.
