A Southern Baptist Convention missionary couple from the United States have died in a car crash in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries Randy and Kathy Arnett, from Missouri, worked with Congo4Christ and were on their way to conduct a training session when they were involved in the accident.

Randy and Kathy Arnett worked in Togo, West Africa, and then in Ivory Coast. Randy had been IMB’s regional leader for West Africa since 2004.

The IMB posted on Facebook: ‘Please join us in praying for the Arnett family, as well as their friends and teammates. And rest in the fact that we do not grieve without hope (1 Thess. 4:13-18).’

Congo4Christ’s Facebook page asked for prayer for all the families concerned, particularly for the Arnetts’ daughters as they arranged for the repatriation of their bodies back to the US.

Two other missionaries, Jeff and Barbara Singerman, were also injured, as was their Congolese friend and driver, Jean Louis, according to The Alabama Baptist.

The Singermans
Jeff and Barbara Singerman were flown to South Africa for surgery.

The Singermans have been flown to Johannesburg in South Africa to receive treatment for their injuries, which are described as ‘serious but not critical’; both require surgery.
