DAY 9 — THE GOSPEL: THE REVELATION OF GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS
Date: Friday, January 9, 2026
Focus Scripture:
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth… For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
— Romans 1:16–17
What You Will See
You will gain:
- The revelation that the Gospel unveils God’s righteousness as the standard, exposing the insufficiency of human virtue.
- Liberation from both the pride of self-righteousness and the weight of condemnation.
- A focused vision for walking daily by faith in what Christ has done, not by confidence in what you can achieve.
📖 Opening Reflection
Many struggle with the idea of righteousness. Some view it as moral perfection; others see it as something unattainable. As a result, people either become proud or discouraged.
The Gospel confronts both errors by revealing a righteousness that comes from God, not from human effort. You cannot truly know the righteousness and justice of God apart from the Gospel. It is the definitive revelation of His character.
💭 Core Meditation
The Scripture declares that in the Gospel, “the righteousness of God is revealed.” This righteousness is not God demanding perfection from sinners; it is God providing righteousness to those who believe in Christ.
Through the Gospel, God remains just while justifying the sinner. Jesus bore our sin, and in exchange, believers receive His righteousness. This exchange is the heart of the Gospel.
The phrase “from faith to faith” shows that the Christian life begins, continues, and is sustained by faith. Righteousness is received, not achieved.
Jesus Christ becomes our righteousness. At the cross, He took what we deserved so we could receive what only He possessed. The Gospel reveals God is righteous.
Without the Gospel, God’s righteousness remains abstract and His justice appears distant. The Gospel makes them personal, clear, relevant, live and realistic.
🙏 Prayers
Thank You, Father, for revealing Your righteousness in the Gospel. As I receive Christ’s righteousness by faith, I depend on Your Spirit guiding me each day to live securely within this truth. Amen.
