FEBRUARY — DAY 3: WHY WE PRAY
Date: Tuesday, February 3, 2026
Focus Scripture:
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” — Jeremiah 33:3
What You Will Walk Away With
- A biblical understanding of the true, multi-faceted purposes of prayer—moving beyond crisis-only requests.
- Freedom from a shallow, purely need-based approach to prayer into a holistic divine partnership.
- Alignment of your personal prayers with God’s grand redemptive intentions for your life and the world.
Devotional
Many people pray, but few know why they pray. Some pray only in crisis. Some pray out of habit. Some pray because they were taught to. But Scripture reveals prayer as God’s invitation into partnership, intimacy, and transformation.
We do not pray because God lacks information. We pray because God desires relationship. We do not pray because God needs persuasion. We pray because God has chosen to work with and through His people.
Prayer exists so that: God is known (relationship), God’s will is revealed (direction), God’s power is released (participation), and God’s people are transformed (formation). Prayer aligns earth with heaven. It draws the human heart into divine purpose. When believers stop praying, it is not God who loses power—it is people who lose alignment.
Jesus prayed not because He lacked authority, but because prayer is the language of sonship. He shows us that prayer is not weakness—it is dependence rightly placed on the Father, the very posture that releases heaven’s resources.
Prayer
Father,
Draw me into Your eternal purposes through prayer.
Teach me to pray beyond my own immediate needs and desires.
Align my heart completely with heaven’s agenda, that my life might partner with Your will.
Amen.
Declaration
- I declare that I pray to know God more deeply and to partner with His will.
- I declare that my prayers are aligned with God’s redemptive purposes, releasing His power and direction in my life.
- I declare that prayer is my primary tool for spiritual transformation and heavenly partnership.
Action Points
- Expand your prayer time today. Dedicate the first half to relationship—simply worship, thank God, and sit in His presence without presenting a single request.
- Ask God one specific, open-ended question that seeks His agenda: “Father, what is one ‘great and mighty thing’ (Jer. 33:3) You want to show me or accomplish through me this week?”
- Let prayer shape your perspective. In a challenging situation today, pause to pray before reacting. Ask: “God, how do You see this? What is Your heart here?” Let the prayer itself reframe your outlook.
Memory Verse
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” — Philippians 4:6
