Rick Joyner is the director of MorningStar Ministries which he co-founded in 1983 in Jackson, Mississippi with his wife, Julie Joyner.

Personal Life

Rick was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 8, 1949 and grew up in Richmond, Virginia. He served in the Navy until 1970, when he moved back to Raleigh.

He is the author of more than fifty books, including The Final Quest Trilogy. Rick and his wife, Julie, have five children: Anna, Aaryn, Amber, Ben, and Sam.

Ministry

Despite no formal training at a Bible College or theological seminary, he says he was asked to pastor a small church. He pastored it until 1980 when he left the ministry because, he explained, “I was the worst pastor I have ever known.”

Rick is the Founder and Executive Director of MorningStar Ministries, a multi-faceted mission organization which includes Heritage International Ministries, MorningStar University, MorningStar Fellowship of Churches and Ministries, and CMM/MorningStar Missions—an umbrella organization serving over five hundred missionaries in the field and over ten thousand churches, schools, and ministries around the world.

Rick Joyner and his wife, Julie, founded MorningStar Ministries in Jackson, Mississippi in 1985.

He is also the president of The Oak Initiative, an interdenominational movement that is mobilizing thousands of Christians to be engaged in the great issues of their times, being the salt and light that they are called to be.
