The Billy Graham Evangelical Association is part of a police investigation after threats were made against someone via the internet.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, someone has been sending threats — at least eight in the last two months. It’s been going on since April 11, but the threats were just reported Tuesday.

The threats were not against BGEA, a spokesperson said in a statement Thursday.

“The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association can confirm that it has communicated with law enforcement regarding comments received via the internet containing potential threats to a third party. As this is an on ongoing investigation, we defer any additional comments to law enforcement and appreciate their attention to the matter,” the BGEA said in a statement.

Police have just started their investigation. It’s not clear if the threats are political in nature or are promising any kind of action.

Visitors at the Billy Graham Library said they feel sorry for the person behind the threats.

“Do you feel like your faith is under attack? I think they don’t know what they are missing, and I think it’s just sad,” visitor Frances Gibson said.
