Pray for wisdom for the church to respond biblically to such accusations and claims by Islamists
Islamists and Malay-rights groups are accusing Christians of threatening Islam in Malaysia because of two church events, named ‘Jerusalem Jubilee’ and ‘Borneo Revival’. Both events are to celebrate the capture of Jerusalem by Israel from the hands of Muslims in the 6-day war in 1967. As a result, the Chief of Information for the Islamist party, PAS, wrote on his Facebook page, “Recently, the enemies of Islam are playing rough and getting bolder. Now they are targeting Malaysia. They want to build a nest here. Come and rise Muslims before it is too late.”
We just received word that both events were cancelled and the Home Minister has banned one of them. Now, a poster is being circulated claiming that one of the opposition parties, the Democratic Action Party (DAP), whose members are mostly non-Muslims, is in cahoots with “fanatical missionary Christians” in the region because of the word ‘hope’ in their poster.
Pray for wisdom for the church to respond biblically to such accusations and claims by Islamists as these slanders can stir unrest among the government and society, causing the believers to be all the more pressurized.
