Today marks the beginning of the end of government’s 60-year-old war against religious liberty.
Rev. Robert Jeffress said President Donald Trump is ending the ‘government assault’ on religious liberty. Yesterday, the President signed an Executive Order that repeals the 1954 Johnson Amendment. This amendment threatens the tax-exempt status of Churches should they wish to speak a out politics from the pulpit.
“This financial threat against the faith community is over,” Trump declared before faith leaders in the Rose Garden yesterday.
“I think today is historic. Today marks the beginning of the end of government’s 60-year-old war against religious liberty,” Jeffress told FOX News. “Something is wrong. The presidentrecognized that. And he vowed to do something to change it.”
“We’re doing a giant U-turn,” Jeffress continued. “We’re going to start protecting religious liberty instead of assaulting it. That’s what was historic about today.”
