In a sudden change of its earlier decision, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called off its nationwide protest earlier scheduled to hold July 11.
CAN President Rev. Samson Olasupo on Friday suspended the planned protest over what he termed “circumstances beyond CAN’s control”.
CAN President, Rev. Samson Ayokunle Olasupo, had in a statement on Thursday, called on Christians to embark on a peaceful protest against the killings in Nigeria.
Meanwhile CAN in a statement declared July 9-11 as national days of prayer and fasting (3 days prayer and fasting), and will hold as scheduled in all churches and state chapters of CAN.
The prayers and fasting over the state of Nigeria, are particularly due to the failure of the federal government to end killings by herdsmen in the country.
