JULY — DAY 2: Growth Is God's Design

Date: July 2, 2026

Focus Scripture:

“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”
— Ephesians 4:15 (KJV)

What You Will Walk Away With:

  • God’s intention — Spiritual growth is God’s intention for every believer
  • Source and goal — Christ is both the source and the goal of our growth
  • Truth and love — Growth happens as believers remain rooted in truth and love

Devotional:

From the moment a person is born again, God begins a lifelong work of transformation. Spiritual growth is not an optional part of the Christian life—it is God’s design for every believer.

Paul writes that believers are to “grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.” This reveals that growth is not merely about becoming more knowledgeable or active in church. The goal is growing into Christ Himself, allowing every area of life to come under His lordship and reflect His character.

God never intended believers to remain spiritually immature. Just as healthy physical life naturally develops, the new life received in Christ is designed to mature. The Holy Spirit continually works within believers, shaping them into the image of Jesus.

This growth begins with God’s grace. It is not driven by guilt, fear, or the pressure to perform. Instead, God lovingly transforms His children as they remain connected to Christ through faith.

Paul also connects growth with “speaking the truth in love.” Truth without love can become harsh, while love without truth loses its foundation. Healthy spiritual growth flourishes where both truth and love are embraced.

Growing “into Him in all things” means that Christ desires to influence every part of life—our thoughts, relationships, attitudes, decisions, speech, work, and worship. Spiritual maturity is not limited to church activities; it is the daily expression of Christ in every area of living.

Because Christ is the Head of the Church, believers receive life, direction, and strength from Him. Just as the human body depends on the head, spiritual growth depends entirely upon remaining connected to Christ.

Christ-Centered Focus:

The Holy Spirit faithfully leads believers through this process. He convicts, teaches, comforts, strengthens, and transforms, producing Christlike character over time. Growth may not always be dramatic, but it is steady where believers continue abiding in Christ. Every step of obedience, every lesson learned, and every deeper experience of God’s grace contributes to spiritual maturity.

Conclusion:

Ultimately, God’s design is that every believer increasingly reflects the life of Jesus. True spiritual growth is becoming more like Christ in every area of life. Walk in that growth today.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making spiritual growth part of Your purpose for my life. Help me to remain rooted in Christ and to grow in truth, love, and maturity through the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Declaration:

I DECLARE:

  • God is continually transforming my life.

  • I grow daily in truth, love, and Christlikeness.
