As the London fire death toll continues to rise, heartbreaking stories have emerged detailing the final moments of life as fire and smoke engulfed the apartment block. Khadija Saye is still missing since calling friends on the night of the blaze.
She was saying she just can’t get out and ‘Please pray for me. There’s a fire in my council block. I can’t leave the flat. Please pray for me and my mum,'” friend Nicola Green told the Evening Standard. “The only alarm that went off was my neighbor’s smoke alarm. I thought he had burned some chips,” resident Eddie Daffarn told The New York Times. “I opened the door and there was smoke, loads of smoke, so then I closed it and thought: This is a real fire, not my mate’s chip pan.”
