It was a very fast-growing type of cancer
Preacher and author Joyce Meyer has revealed how she relied on the power of God to sustain her through her cancer ordeal. Meyer was diagnosed with breast cancer 28 years ago. “It was a very fast-growing type of cancer,” she says.
“I went to the doctor for a check up and found out I had breast cancer. I was out preaching faith and you know I wasn’t gonna get breast cancer; I was praying for other people to be healed. It was a very fast-growing type of cancer.
“At first I was so scared. I had to work through that and believe that God was in control of my life and he was going to take care of me no matter what. I didn’t have to have any chemo treatments,” explains Meyer.
“They got everything. Every year, I go and get tested, and every year a clean report. Everything is great.”
But Meyer explains how years later, the doctors discovered lesions on her spine that could be the breast cancer that has metastasized and spread to her back.
The doctors tested her, and the news that came back was astonishing.
“They came back and they said, ‘well, interesting thing. It looks like on your spine, you had cancer at one time, but somehow or another, it healed itself.’
