She began her singing career in the Scripture Union Fellowship Nigeria.
Her real name is Evangelist Amaka Okwuoha. She is married to Evangelist Callistus Okwuoha, also a pastor and together they are blessed with 3 children. She started the Inheritance of Mercy Foundation in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
Amaka Okwuoha, best known as Chioma Jesus, is one of the true ambassadors of proper Nigerian gospel music. Her music and lyrics are not only well known in this country but in many African states as well.
Amaka was born in the poor district of Lagos but the absence of wealth didn’t deter her from developing her talent. At the age of 9, she was already singing in her local church choir. Her Pastor encouraged her to develop her talent and helped in enrolling her in the College of Music.
The first song released by this music legend was written in Yoruba although she had been learning English which would increase her opportunities. She came into prominence after being nominated for a category in the Delta Yadah Award in 2010. She did not win then, but she did win both in 2011 and 2012. Delta Yadah is an annual concert which takes place in Asaba, Delta State. It features seasoned, anointed and professional gospel music ministers who are proudly some of Nigeria’s finest.
Her most popular song is “Praise” released in 2011 which made it to the top of the Nigerian gospel charts. Amaka has collaborated with other Gospel Artistes like Samsong and several others. Chioma Jesus is scheduled to release her debut album soon.
