When Beneke was last seen, he was at a gas station with two unknown men
The body of Martin Beneke, a South African pastor was found “burned beyond recognition” with his hands tied in a rural town about 50 miles outside of Johannesburg. Local authorities believe Pastor Beneke had been kidnapped.
Beneke, 45, was the senior pastor and founder of the Johannesburg-based Life in Christ Network. He was discovered on a Magaliesburg farm on Monday when a local farmer noticed smoke and found Beneke’s Nissan truck on fire.
Along with a description of the crime scene, Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela said in a statement, “The motive is unknown and at the moment no arrests have been made. He was reported missing on Monday this week by his family after he did not come back home that night.”
When Beneke was last seen, he was at a gas station on 14th Avenue in Johannesburg with two unknown men, according to the Roodepoort Record.
