JUNE — DAY 6: Dead to Sin, Alive to God

Focus Scripture:
“Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

What You Will Walk Away With:

Devotional:
Through Christ, the believer has entered a completely new reality. Scripture says believers are to reckon themselves dead to sin and alive unto God through Jesus Christ.
To be dead to sin does not mean believers no longer face temptation or the possibility of sinful actions. Rather, it means sin is no longer the believer’s master or identity. Through union with Christ, the old life of separation from God has been broken.
Before salvation, humanity lived disconnected from the life of God. Sin ruled naturally because the heart was separated from Him. But through Christ, believers are brought into fellowship with God and made alive spiritually.
This changes how believers approach spiritual growth. The Christian life is not trying to become a new person through effort—it is learning to live from the new life already given in Christ.
Paul says to “reckon” yourselves dead to sin. This means believers must continually renew their thinking according to spiritual truth. Feelings, past failures, or temptations may say one thing, but God’s Word declares a new identity in Christ.
Being alive unto God means the believer now has the capacity to walk in fellowship, obedience, and intimacy with Him through the Holy Spirit. God’s life is now at work within.
Christ-Centered Focus:
This is why victory over sins comes through yielding, not striving. The flesh cannot produce spiritual life. As believers depend on the Holy Spirit, sinful patterns gradually lose their control and Christ’s character becomes more evident. The believer’s focus should therefore not remain fixed on sin-consciousness, but on abiding in Christ. The more believers walk in communion with God, the more transformation naturally flows outward.
Conclusion:
God never intended believers to live trapped in guilt and defeat. Through Christ, He has provided freedom, new life, and continual grace for growth. You are no longer defined by the old life. In Christ, a new life has begun. Ultimately, the believer overcomes not by trying harder, but by living from the reality of being alive unto God. Christ’s life in you is greater than the power of sin.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for making me alive in Christ. Help me to live from my new identity and to yield daily to the Holy Spirit. Let the life of Jesus be revealed in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Declaration:
I DECLARE:
- I am alive unto God through Jesus Christ.
- Sin no longer defines my identity.
- The Holy Spirit works powerfully within me.
- I walk in the life of Christ daily.
