JUNE — DAY 2: The Origin and Nature of Sin
Date: June 2, 2026
Focus Scripture:
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”
— Romans 5:12 (KJV)
What You Will Walk Away With:
- Sin’s entrance — Sin entered humanity through Adam’s disobedience
- A condition, not just actions — Sin is a spiritual condition before it becomes outward actions
- Christ’s restoration — Christ came to restore humanity’s relationship with God
Devotional:
Sin was not part of God’s original creation. Humanity was created for fellowship with God, to live in dependence upon Him and reflect His nature. But through Adam’s disobedience, sin entered the world and affected all humanity.
Romans teaches that through one man, sin entered the world, and death followed. Sin brought separation from God, spiritual corruption, and brokenness into human life. What began in Adam affected the entire human race.
This is why humanity’s problem is deeper than behavior alone. Sins are the outward fruit, but sin is the inward condition of separation from God. Actions reveal the deeper issue within the human heart.
No amount of self-effort can fully solve this condition. Humanity does not merely need moral improvement—it needs reconciliation with God and new life through Christ.
This is why Jesus came. Christ did not come merely to make bad people better, but to restore fallen humanity back into relationship with God. Through His death and resurrection, He dealt with the root problem of sin.
For the believer, identity is no longer rooted in Adam but in Christ. The believer has been brought into union with God through Christ and given new life by the Spirit. This changes how sin is understood.
A believer may still struggle with sinful habits, temptations, or weaknesses of the flesh, but these no longer define their true identity. Victory comes not through self-striving, but through yielding to the life and power of the Holy Spirit.
Christ-Centered Focus:
The Christian life is not centered on sin-consciousness, but on Christ-consciousness. As believers abide in Christ, transformation takes place from within. Understanding the origin of sin also deepens gratitude for salvation. What humanity lost through Adam, God restores through Christ. Jesus is not only the answer for sinful actions—He is the answer for the condition of separation itself.
Conclusion:
Through Christ, relationship with God is restored and new life begins. Your identity is no longer rooted in the failure of Adam but in the victory of the Last Adam—Jesus Christ. Walk in that newness today.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for restoring me to fellowship with God. Help me to live from my new identity in Christ and to yield daily to the Holy Spirit. Let Your life be revealed in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Declaration:
I DECLARE:
- I am no longer separated from God through Christ.
- My identity is rooted in Jesus.
- The Holy Spirit works in me daily.
- I walk in newness of life.
Action Points:
- Reflect on your identity in Christ rather than past failures
- Spend time thanking God for salvation and reconciliation
- Yield daily to the Holy Spirit instead of relying on self-effort

Pastoral Anchor: “You are not a sinner trying to be good—you are a saint who sometimes sins, because your identity is in the Last Adam, not the first.”
