Devotional
Jesus was the Son of God, yet He prayed continually. If anyone seemed least in need of prayer, it was Him—and yet no one prayed more faithfully. This tells us something essential: prayer is not a sign of weakness; it is the rhythm of sonship.
The Gospels show Jesus praying: Early—before the demands of the day; Alone—away from noise and applause; Often—regularly, not occasionally; Surrendered—aligning His will with the Father’s. Prayer shaped Jesus’ decisions, sustained His ministry, and strengthened Him for suffering. He prayed before choosing disciples, after miracles, and in moments of deep anguish in Gethsemane. Jesus did not use prayer to escape responsibility; He used it to enter obedience with clarity and peace.
Jesus’ prayer life flowed from intimacy with the Father. He did not pray out of religious duty but out of deep, abiding relationship. He invites His followers into the same relationship—one marked by trust, obedience, and communion. To follow Christ is to learn to pray as He prayed.

Teach me to value prayer as Jesus did.
Shape my prayer life by His example—early, alone, often, and surrendered.
Draw me continually into deeper, truer communion with You, not as a duty, but as the joyful rhythm of being Your child.

- Set aside intentional time for prayer today, even if you are busy. If Jesus rose “a great while before day” to pray, consider what one adjustment you can make to prioritize prayer before the demands of your day begin.
- Choose solitude. Find a literal “solitary place” (even a quiet room, a parked car, or an early morning walk) where you can be alone with God without distraction. Spend time listening and aligning your heart with His.
- Let prayer precede a decision today. Before making a choice (small or large), pause and pray. Ask, “Father, what is Your will here?” Let prayer shape your response, not just follow your crisis.
