What You Will Walk Away With:

Devotional:

Spiritual growth is one of God’s primary purposes for every believer. Salvation is not the end of God’s work—it is the beginning of a lifelong journey of transformation into the likeness of Christ.

Peter exhorts believers to “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” This reveals that spiritual growth is not merely gaining more biblical information or becoming more religious. True growth is increasing in the grace of God and in an intimate knowledge of Jesus Christ.

The Christian life begins with new birth, but God desires believers to mature. Just as a healthy child naturally grows into adulthood, a healthy believer should continue growing spiritually. Growth is therefore a normal expression of the life of Christ within.

This growth is not accomplished by pressure, comparison, or self-effort. It is the work of God in the believer through the Holy Spirit. As believers remain connected to Christ, His life continually transforms their thoughts, desires, character, and actions.

Spiritual growth is not about earning God’s acceptance. In Christ, believers are already accepted and loved by the Father. Growth flows from that relationship, not toward it.

Growing in grace also means learning to depend more fully on God. Mature believers are not those who rely on themselves, but those who increasingly trust Christ in every area of life.

Growing in the knowledge of Christ is more than knowing facts about Him. It is knowing Him personally through Scripture, prayer, worship, obedience, and daily fellowship. The more believers behold Christ, the more they are transformed into His image.

Christ-Centered Focus:

This growth is often gradual. God patiently shapes His children through daily experiences, His Word, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the fellowship of other believers. Spiritual maturity develops over time as believers continue abiding in Christ. The goal of spiritual growth is not simply becoming more disciplined—it is becoming more like Jesus. As Christ is formed within believers, His love, humility, wisdom, holiness, and compassion become increasingly evident.

Conclusion:

Ultimately, spiritual growth is the continual expression of Christ’s life in those who belong to Him. The Christian life is a journey of becoming more like Jesus through the grace of God. Walk in that growth today.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me new life in Christ. Continue Your work within me through the Holy Spirit and help me to grow daily in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
